Project Overview:
Penguins Can Fly, Right? is a compelling tale of two penguins’ attempts to fly like many of their more distant bird relatives. This multifaceted story teaches about science, persistence, failure, and finding your own gifts. Kids take a journey alongside penguin cousins Fluffin and Muffin as they brainstorm and make effort after effort to soar through the sky. Savvy readers know they will not succeed at flying, but the penguin cousins are eventually able to discover and celebrate their own unique strengths. Penguins Can Fly, Right? is perfect for at-home or classroom reading.
My Role:
In "Penguins Can Fly, Right?", I illustrated and designed the interactive activities featured in the storybook. Additionally, I managed the marketing efforts by creating social media posts and designing promotional materials and merchandise.
Book Launch Party:
The "Penguins Can Fly, Right?" book launch party was held at Henny Penny's Art Space and Cafe in Savannah, Georgia. I prepared various crafts and activities fit for all age groups and individuals who came and celebrated with us.
Social Media:
Talking strategy, I aim to create a joyful online experience that not only sparks curiosity but also reinforces positive messages about self-esteem and confidence. Each post is crafted to encourage interaction, whether through learning something new, participating in creative activities, or simply enjoying the whimsical charm of our penguin characters. This approach not only promotes the book but also builds a community around its core themes, making learning fun and accessible for children everywhere.
Merchandise:
The merchandise for "Penguins Can Fly, Right?" includes tote bags and products made from reclaimed kraft paper, all of which were manually screen-printed ensuring that each individual receives a completely unique piece of art.
