Excited to share that ROSITA was selected to promote SCAD's graduate program in a 4-day design event in London this July 2023!

Project Overview:
Over a 10-week period, our team had the opportunity to choose a project to come up with a design solution through industrial design tools and approaches. My team and I wanted to address the challenge of encouraging the preservation and maintenance of public spaces and historical landmarks. Additionally, we aimed to drive cultural exposure, social interaction, and a sense of pride within the community. After careful consideration and brainstorming, we devised a unique solution: ROSITA, a park robot and companion!

My Role:
In the project, my role encompassed researching, exploring different product configurations, and  establishing a solid visual identity for Rosita. I was responsible for designing the logo, crafting a cohesive branding strategy, and ensuring that Rosita's visual identity was robust. Additionally, I was responsible for designing progress report presentations for checkpoints and a final process book that represents our design process as a team.
Design Process:
Preliminary Research

We conducted thorough secondary research to gain a comprehensive understanding of the robot industry. This involved studying existing technologies, trends, and applications within the field. Additionally, we performed a benchmark analysis to identify best practices and gather insights from similar products. Building upon this foundation, we developed archetypes and personas to better understand the needs and expectations of our target audience.
In order to create a meaningful user journey, we conducted primary research by visiting Forsythe Park on consecutive days. During our observations, we closely examined the activities and behaviors of park visitors, noting their interactions with the environment and each other. This on-site research provided valuable firsthand insights that informed our design decisions and helped us tailor the functionalities and features of our Park Robot, Rosita, to best serve the specific needs of the park's visitors.
Ideation:
Meet ROSITA

Looking Forward:
Our 10 weeks of observations, in-depth research, and in-class work has taught us to attain a design intervention directed to the community. We want our findings from this research to extend beyond our project and act as an example for future designers to refer to when doing the same.
